About Us

PAVE Europe is a broad coalition of industry, nonprofits, public sector organisations, and academics with one goal: to inform the public about automated vehicles and their potential so everyone can fully participate in shaping the future of transportation.

Why it Matters

Autonomous vehicle technology is rapidly advancing in Europe. Misconceptions, hype, and inconsistent terminology, however, often leave many unsure of what AVs can do today – and the role that they will play in the future.

The knowledge gap matters. Trust in new mobility technology is built through transparency, dialogue and firsthand experience. Without it, the benefits of safer, more accessible, and more sustainable transport risk being delayed.

PAVE Europe exists to close that gap; connecting industry, policymakers, academics and the general public in an honest, evidence-based conversation about what autonomous vehicles mean for Europe.

Our Mission

Educating the public and policy-makers in geographical Europe about fully automated vehicle technology and its potential societal benefits, with quality content and knowledge.
Engaging stakeholders - from EU institutions to local communities - in open, well-informed dialogue on the future of automated mobility.
Enable experience of AV technology directly through demos, study visits and masterclasses, so that understanding is practical.

Founding Members

PAVE Europe was founded and launched in 2022 by six founding organisations: Achmea, EasyMile, Mobileye, Swiss Re, TÜV Rheinland, and Waymo

This founding group of organisations across the automated vehicle ecosystem were united by a shared commitment to public education ahead of deployment. Their continued involvement anchors PAVE Europe’s independence.

TÜV Rheinland is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services for a wide variety of industries.

Waymo’s mission is to make it safe and easy for people and things to get where they’re going.

Policy on Gender Equality

The Transport and Automotive sector has historically predominantly been shaped and run by men for men, often neglecting the specific needs of women. To rectify this, the sector requires more women across all roles. Emerging technologies, such as Autonomous Vehicles, hold the potential to transform mobility, and this transformation should actively involve women at every level and application. This aligns seamlessly with PAVE Europe’s mission to educate the general public and decision-makers on sustainable and efficient mobility through autonomous technology.

PAVE Europe’s gender equality policy is to actively encourage greater participation of women in PAVE Europe activities, ultimately striving for gender balance throughout the Association. The policy addresses various aspects related to the association’s operations and enjoys endorsement at the highest levels, from both the Secretariat and the Boards.
