Allianz Center of Technology is New Member of PAVE Europe

PAVE Europe is excited to welcome Allianz Center for Technology as a new member and to collaborate in educating the public and decision-makers about the potential benefits of autonomous technologies

Munich, 16 November 2023 – PAVE Europe is a coalition of industry, non-profit organizations and academics with the goal of bringing the discussion about automated vehicles (AVs) to the public so that everyone can play a role in shaping our future. PAVE Europe does not advocate for any particular technology or public policy. Members believe that the potential benefits of driverless technology will only be embraced by people, if the public and policy makers are fully and objectively informed about the potential uses of the new technology. PAVE Europe aims to raise public awareness of both what is on the roads today and what is possible in the future.

“PAVE Europe is excited to welcome Allianz Center for Technology as a new member and to collaborate in educating the public and decision-makers about the potential benefits of autonomous technologies. AZT will bring their extensive expertise in road traffic safety to help ensure that safety-related topics are discussed within the public opinion, the public sector, and the media,” says Guido Di PasqualeManaging Director at PAVE Europe.

As the research institute of the Allianz, AZT investigates current issues in the fields of automotive technology, repair technology as well as vehicle and road safety. With their expertise, they help to ensure that road traffic is safer, sustainable, and affordable and that vehicle damage repairs are optimized and fairly settled for all parties involved. Therefore, the AZT portfolio includes topics such as repair and crash performance, driver assistance systems & automated driving, vehicle data, connectivity & IT security, electromobility and road safety.

Furthermore, since its foundation in 1971, AZT has contributed with many studies and with active public relations work to ensuring that safety-relevant topics are discussed in the media worldwide and implemented by the automotive industry. There are many examples of this. Just think of various road safety campaigns and reports for different target groups (e.g. traffic education for children, reports on driver distraction and topics such as equipping of motorbikes with ABS), public discussions at the annual Allianz Motor Day around the topics of automation and autonomous driving and, last but not least, the current research in the field of sustainability with the published studies on “repair versus replace”.

“The Allianz Center for Technology has been working on the topic of automated vehicles for a decade. We are pleased to be part of PAVE Europe and contribute to the goal of raising public awareness of automated vehicles. In cooperation with other partners within PAVE Europe, we would like to integrate our experience from various projects and studies related to safety and insurability”, says Christian SahrManaging Director at Allianz Center for Technology as of January 01, 2024.

As a research institute belonging to the Allianz Group, AZT examines current issues in the areas of automobile technology, repair technology as well as vehicle and road-safety.
