PAVE UK is fully managed by the Safe Autonomy Research Team at WMG, the University of Warwick.

The team is the national and global leader in safety assurance research for automated transport systems across land, marine and air. By developing innovative safety assurance methods and tools, the team strives to ensure the safe development and deployment of automated transport technologies and influence international standards and policies. The team is also advocating ‘Communicating Safety’ which aims to communicate the capabilities and limitations of the new technologies, so the general public can use them safely.

Our Founders

Department for Business & Trade is a ministerial department under the UK government. It supports businesses to invest, grow and export, creating jobs and opportunities across the country.
The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) is a joint Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Department for Transport (DfT) unit. Established in 2015, CCAV is an expert policy unit that is working with industry and academia to make everyday journeys safer, greener, more efficient and more inclusive. To do this, CCAV is shaping the safe and secure introduction of self-driving vehicles and services on UK roads and leading the government’s wider Future of Transport programme.
Department for Transport is a ministerial department under the UK government. It works with its agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. It also plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move.
WMG is an academic department at the University of Warwick and is the leading international role model for successful collaboration between academia and the public and private sectors, driving innovation in science, technology and engineering. WMG is one of the seven UK High Value Manufacturing Catapult centres, leveraging research expertise to help drive innovation in UK manufacturing. PAVE UK is fully managed by the Safe Autonomy Research Group at WMG.
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority. It works with bus and train operators to make sure that public transport is: safe, reliable, affordable and accessible for everyone. It owns and runs West Midlands Metro, which is the region’s tram service. We also run the Swift smartcard. This flexible, cashless ticket is the most-used outside London.
