About

As a Professor for Technical Computer Science and Automated Driving, Dr. Ebert is teaching students in the domain of full stack software development for automated driving functions at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. In his role as program director, he helped build the Bachelor’s degree in Autonomous Vehicle Engineering at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. In conjunction with his teaching activities, he also leads a research group within the CARISSMA Institute of Automated Driving (C-IAD).

PAVE: How does your work align with our mission to educate the public on AV technology and its promise?

On a daily basis I am involved developing the necessary skills of young talents in the domain of Automated Driving. That includes teaching specific courses to students, as well as guiding young researchers in research projects.

PAVE: What are the current barriers you see in public acceptance of automated vehicles?

Society has to agree on what level of residue risk we are willing to accept for automated driving. Even though we try to achieve the “Vision Zero“ it is unlikely to eliminate every possible risk.

About the Academic Advisory Council: PAVE’s academic partners help to guide PAVE on its mission of promoting fact-based public discussion about automated vehicles. Council members serve in a strictly advisory capacity, providing PAVE and its members with opinions and recommendations related to AV technology and its societal effects.
