Public opinion polls teach us that exposure to autonomous vehicles is perhaps the best way to help the public understand and trust the technology, so PAVE has run numerous AV demonstrations to allow people to have the opportunity to take a ride.
In April 2024, PAVE and member organization May Mobility partnered to offer autonomous vehicle demo rides at the ITS America Conference & Expo in Phoenix, AZ. Conference attendees were invited to take a ride in a May Mobility vehicle on the streets of Phoenix.
The demo rides gave members of the ITS community an opportunity to experience an autonomous vehicle firsthand, ask questions about the technology, and provide feedback. Our rider survey found that most riders felt very safe in the AV and were eager to see advancements in the industry.
This event gave us a chance to engage with both public and private sector leaders from across the country about how AV technology could improve local transportation ecosystems. For a list of upcoming PAVE events, including demos, click here.
