When Humans Meet Automation: ADAS and Nomenclature
Over 90% of new vehicles sold today have at least one advanced driver assistance technology, but there are often dozens of names used by different manufacturers to identify a single ADAS feature. Several leading safety organizations joined forces to propose a standardized naming system to reduce confusion and help to educate consumers about the benefits, limitations, and proper usage of these technologies.
On August 5, representatives of three of these organizations — AAA, Consumer Reports, and the National Safety Council — joined our virtual panel to discuss their nomenclature initiative and how it can help to improve safety on our roadways.
- Kelly Funkhouser – Consumer Reports, Program Manager, Vehicle Interface Testing; Head of Connected and Automated Vehicles
- Greg Brannon – AAA, Director of Automotive Engineering and Industry Relations
- Kelly Nantel – National Safety Council, VP Roadway Practice
