When Humans Meet Automation: Managing Risk
Having had the “micro” view of driver assistance challenges on the design level from our academic human factors experts last week, this panel is about providing a more high-level “macro” view of how ADAS affects safety. Viewers should come away with a sense of what the data tell us about the safety opportunities and risks of driver assistance, some insight into specific risks like drowsy and distracted driving, and what we can expect from (and how we can prepare for) a world of near-ubiquitous Level 2 systems.
Panelists:
- David Harkey – Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)-Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI), President
- Drew Woods – Travelers, VP Personal Research & Development
- Russ Martin – Governors Highway Safety Association, Senior Director of Policy and Government Relations
