Greetings from PAVE! We hope you’re having a great summer. Our team has had a busy year so far with speaking engagements, virtual panels, conferences, and more. Below are some highlights of our current happenings. As always, feel free to reach out with questions or inquiries!
PAVE On the Road
Since we last updated you, we’ve had many opportunities to get on the road and engage with the public! In April, we teamed with May Mobility to provide AV demo rides at the ITS America conference. The following month, 30 AV safety professionals from nine AV companies joined us as we co-hosted the first-ever AV Safety InfoShare. In June, PAVE joined Auto Innovators’ Auto Tech Showcase at Audi Field in DC. We’re also preparing for several upcoming engagements:
- Leading two breakout sessions at the ARTS conference in San Diego in July
- Speaking at CAR MBS in Michigan in August
- Speaking at the GHSA Annual Meeting in September
- Co-chairing the Women in Mobility Symposium in Canada in September
- Speaking at MOVE America in Austin in September

Recap: AV Safety InfoShare
This spring, PAVE and MITRE hosted the first industry-led AV Safety InfoShare. Over two days, Safety Management System (SMS) experts discussed challenges and best practices that could improve road safety. Thanks to Aurora, Beep, Cruise, Nuro, Forterra, Torc, Waymo, Zoox, and VW for participating! We are leading a session at the ARTS conference in San Diego to share lessons learned and plans going forward. We’d love to see you there!
Recap: ITS America Demos
In April, we partnered with PAVE member May Mobility to provide demo rides at the ITS America Conference & Expo. Despite the Arizona heat, we gave rides to more than 100 transportation professionals and gathered valuable feedback. Demo rides are a great way to introduce people to AVs and their potential.
Congrats to Our Essay Contest Winners!
After reviewing more than 200 entries in our second annual Essay Contest & Scholarship Program, we were thrilled to present scholarship awards to the three winners. The winning students were recognized at an event hosted by contest sponsor STEER. We are grateful to the Maryland Dept. of Transportation and the D.C. Dept. of Transportation for cosponsoring the contest, as well.
Upcoming Virtual Panel
Join us on July 24th for a virtual panel on the current state of ADAS and the pivotal role of regulations and safety protocols in the advancement of automotive technologies. Panelists include Stephanie Leonard and Giovanni Giancaspro of TomTom, and David Ward of Global NCAP.

Countdown to ARTS ’24
We are just two weeks away from TRB’s Annual Road Transportation Symposium (ARTS). PAVE is leading two sessions during the event: one on our inaugural InfoShare event, and another on a new workforce initiative we’re developing. Let us know if you’ll be there! We would love to connect.
Meet Our Newest Member
Last month, we were excited to welcome the ACES Mobility Coalition as a new member of PAVE. The ACES Mobility Coalition is a public sector-led organization that works to educate and promote shared autonomous mobility solutions.
