PAVE Europe Welcomes Uber as New Board Member to Advance the Future of Autonomous Mobility

Brussels, Belgium [19/05/2026] – Partners for Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE) Europe, a non-profit coalition dedicated to increasing public understanding of automated vehicle (AV) technology and its societal benefits, is pleased to announce that Uber has become a Board Member.

As one of the world’s leading mobility and technology platforms, Uber brings extensive expertise in ride-sharing, multimodal mobility and the integration of emerging autonomous vehicle technologies into real-world mobility networks. Uber will further strengthen PAVE Europe’s mission to foster informed dialogue around AV innovation and help build public trust in the deployment of automated mobility solutions across Europe.

Uber has established more than 25 partnerships with leading autonomous vehicles globally, reflecting its commitment to accelerating the safe and scalable deployment of AV technology. Through its hybrid platform model, Uber aims to integrate autonomous vehicles alongside human drivers, creating a flexible and efficient mobility ecosystem that combines technological innovation and human-centred transportation.

“Uber is delighted to join PAVE Europe to contribute to its important educational work on autonomous mobility across Europe.” says Sophie Bonnecarrère, Head of EU Policy at Uber. “Thanks to our pilots outside of Europe – and soon in European cities -, Uber is ready to share its experience on the benefits of autonomous vehicles, as well as the need for thoughtful and progressive deployment. We believe autonomy must happen with cities, not to them. Our hybrid model, which integrates both human drivers and autonomous technology, is designed to ensure a dignified transition for workers that avoids abrupt disruption. This balanced approach is key to fully realizing the potential of autonomous mobility for all.”

“Uber’s global leadership in mobility innovation and its collaborative approach to autonomous vehicle deployment make them an incredibly valuable member to PAVE Europe,” says Guido Di Pasquale, Managing Director of PAVE Europe. “Their experience working with a broad ecosystem of autonomous vehicle developers, combined with their vision for integrating AVs alongside human drivers, aligns strongly with our mission to educate the public about the benefits and realities of automated mobility. We are delighted to welcome Uber as a member of our Board of Directors.”

Uber’s addition comes at a pivotal moment for the European mobility ecosystem as cities, policymakers, and industry leaders work together to shape the future deployment of autonomous mobility. By joining PAVE Europe, Uber will contribute to advancing public awareness and fostering dialogue on how AV technology can support safer roads, reduced congestion, improved sustainability, and greater accessibility.

As a coalition of industry leaders, public interest organisations, academia and mobility experts, PAVE Europe continues to expand its network of stakeholders committed to promoting greater understanding of automated vehicle technology and its role in shaping the future of mobility.

About Uber

Uber’s mission is to create opportunity through movement. We started in 2010 to solve a simple problem: how do you get access to a ride at the touch of a button? More than 72 billion trips later, we’re building products to get people closer to where they want to be. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
