It’s easy to imagine that there’s a stark choice between “self-driving cars” and public transit, but in fact driving automation could make public transit more useful, accessible and viable than ever. In this PAVE virtual panel, we look at the different opportunities for autonomous transit, from shuttles and microtransit to large buses and bus rapid transit. We’ll explore the challenges facing transit today, the enhancements that automation can have on public transit systems, and the pilot programs exploring this massive potential on public roads today.
