PAVE Virtual Panel: The Blind Driver Challenge: Accessibility for All

PAVE Virtual Panel: The Blind Driver Challenge: Accessibility for All

The National Federation of the Blind launched the Blind Driver Challenge in 2010 to shatter misconceptions of what is possible in nonvisual driving technology and push for new technologies that support transportation independence for blind people.

This fall, NFB is teaming with Cruise for the 2021 Blind Driver Challenge to highlight the possibility of autonomous vehicle technology for people with visual impairments as well as the need for nonvisual accessibility in these emerging technologies.

This PAVE virtual panel will look at the incredible accomplishments of the Blind Driver Challenge and how accessible AV technologies can provide new possibilities for blind people — both on the race track and in everyday life.

Panelists

  • Tony Le Accessibility Program Manager, Cruise
  • Anil Lewis – Executive Director for Blindness Initiatives, National Federation of the Blind

You can view recordings of all of PAVE’s virtual panels on the PAVE YouTube channel.
